A great project that was long in the making. I had a soldier who wanted a
historical style pipe tomahawk with a historical feel but designed for
battlefield conditions. The head is just like the pipe tomahawks I normally
make...1018 mild steel forged with a 1095 cutting edge. A strong punched
eye...you know the drill. I incorporated a threaded plug in the bowl that would
keep junk (sand) out of the bowl and enable it to be used as a hammerpoll. The
handle is hickory and I left the tell-tale "beavertooth" marks that my handle
lathe leaves for an enhanced grip. ( this is a tear drop and oval shaped handle)
The mouthpiece also has a threaded plug as well as the endcap so that dust and
sand will stay out. The scabbard is leather and sports a nylon strap. Very fun
project! More pictures below.

A nice scabbard showing off some new features - namely the new rivet style that
I am making on the ring straps.
I have also changed the buckle style that I am making from round to oval. There
is a new rivet for the buckle as well, but different from the ring straps.

The tomahawk in the scabbard above. I absolutely love the tapered faceted bowl.
The handle wrap is rawhide and leather.
Me (Ryan) and Hannah during Thanksgiving at the relatives...we are doing some
tactical design work in software called SolidWorks - fun stuff. I think
Hannah just likes the colorful shapes...
